North of the urban core of Charlotte has seen explosive growth in the last fifteen years and encompasses a large area, from Lake Norman and its surrounding communities – Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville – to the University City area and its surrounding communities – Kannapolis, Concord and Harrisburg.
The Lake Norman region is a city core in itself with thriving retail, business centers, medical facilities and the recreation that the lake itself has to offer. There are many popular neighborhoods in the Lake Norman area, such as Birkdale, The Penisula, McCauley , Northstone Country Club, Hamilton Crest, Windslow Bay and River Run.
The University area is a city within a city and offers its residents easy access to attractions such as IKEA, Latta Plantation, Reedy Creek Park, Northlake Mall, Lowes Motor Speedway, Verizon Wireless Ampitheater and Concord Mills Mall. The UNC Charlotte campus and the new Research Park in Kannapolis are prominent parts of this area. There are many great neighborhoods to choose from in this area including Highland Creek, Bradford Park, Skybrook, Laurel Park, Kellswater Bridge and Moss Creek.
