Plaza Midwood, A cultural and entertainment district, is named for the Midwood neighborhood and its defining street, The Plaza.

Just east of Uptown, Plaza Midwood has become one of the most popular entertainment destinations near Uptown with a wide array of restaurants, from the classic Southern diner, Dish, to the sophisticated restaurant/nightclub, Soul. Petra’s Piano Bar, funky vintage clothing and glam makeup, upscale French bistro brunches, a longstanding pool hall and Snug Harbor music venue are among the many offerings in Plaza Midwood.

In addition to the bar and restaurant scene, the neighborhood also offers local theater productions, art galleries, shops, a library, churches and is home to the first and recently renovated Harris Teeter grocery store. The city’s oldest and most prestigious country club, Charlotte Country Club, also is located in the neighborhood. The housing in Plaza Midwood ranges from early 1900s bungalows in the Historic District to new contemporary condos.
