Photo by James WillamorCharlotte Douglas airport is in the heart of West Charlotte. Other attractions include The Billy Graham Library, the Whitewater Center and the Charlotte School of Law. West Charlotte has seen some recent revitalization in the area near Uptown along the Wilkinson Blvd. corridor and its surrounding neighborhoods, Ashley Park, Berryhill and Enderly Park. To the northwest there is Mountain Island Lake and its surrounding neighborhoods such as Mt. Isle Harbour, Pine Island, Riverbend and Stonecreek. Coulwood is an established community with a mixture of 1960s ranch homes on large lots and newer communities. To southwest is new development with shopping centers, business parks and neighborhoods such as Rivergate. Still further southwest is Lake Wylie and Paramount’s Carowinds.
